Touimi Benjelloun: Partnership agreement in the field of Agriculture and sustainable fisheries between Morocco and the EU bears full legal legitimacy
Doc. Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun, former deputy President of the House of Representatives, has asserted that the partnership agreement in the field of agriculture and sustainable fisheries between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union bears full legal and parliamentary legitimacy, and the decision by the European Court of Justice, based on the appeal presented by the Polisario Front in 2019, lacks legal basis.
Mr. Touimi has clarified, in statements to the press, that the cited agreement has gone through all stages of adoption related to world agreements inside legislative institution, pointing out that the decision by the European Court of Justice has not taken that into account and has not cared about the legal provision of that agreement, adding that this agreement was adopted by members of Parliament.
Mr. Touimi has considered that “the decision has attempted to give some lost legitimacy to the separatist Polisario Front by unilateral representativeness to Moroccan Sahrawi citizens, and this is against even U.N. legitimacy, the fact that has never been pursued before”.
The European Court of Justice, for instance, has decided to cancel the agriculture and fisheries agreement with Morocco on the basis of the appeal presented by the separatist Polisario Front.
