The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, section of Culture, has organized the 41st session of Hassan II manuscripts award for 2021, in the context of pursuing efforts for the implementation, definition and preservation of the national manuscript heritage.
This session has allowed the identification of a collection of 294 documents, 177 book manuscripts some of them include an important collection of books; the fact which has brought the total of titles to 254.
Within this framework, the works of the scientific commission in charge of studying and evaluating the participating manuscripts and documents have resulted in granting 21 first incentive awards distributed to 11 participating centers as follows: 10 first incentive awards, 6 second incentive awards and third 5 incentive awards.
The grand appreciation award was offered to a female candidate from Fez center after she has presented very important scientific manuscripts and highly important historical documents.
It’s worth pointing out that those manuscripts and documents are subject to digitalization process to preserve copies at the Moroccan Kingdom’s national library and Morocco’s archives establishment in Rabat to be available to researchers.
On the occasion of announcing the results of King Hassan II manuscripts award, the Ministry has published a guide for the award in the form of a scientific content which offers detailed information about manuscripts and documents taking part in this session and also a commemorative book in six parts under the title: Research studies in the Arab book manuscript which include several articles on manuscripts signed by a group of prominent scholars.
