Ministry of Culture recuperates 3 Moroccan archeological fossils whose history goes back to more than 250 million years
Minister of Youth Culture and Communication Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid oversaw last Thursday, October 5, 2023, the closing ceremony of the Moroccan – U.S. conference on fighting illegal trafficking of cultural properties at the Mohammed VI museum for modern in the presence of the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Mr. Puneet Talwar.
On the occasion, U.S. Ambassador Mr. Talwar has given three fossils back to the Moroccan government discovered by U.S. law-enforcement officials, and this includes three valuable pieces of fossils from Moroccan paleontology heritage whose history goes back to more than 250 million years.
In his statement made on the occasion, Minister Bensaid has confirmed that this important event has come as an implementation of the cultural property agreement signed between the Moroccan Kingdom and the U.S. in 2021, stressing the necessity to strengthen strategic partnership between the Ministry and the U.S. Embassy in Morocco to reinforce cooperation in the fight against illegal trafficking of cultural properties.
