PAM MPs Urge Inquiry Following A Homeless Moroccan Death In Italy

MPs of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) on Tuesday, addressed a written question to the Delegate minister in charge of Moroccans residing abroad, urging an inquiry into measures taken to protect the lives of Moroccan citizens abroad, in addition to the promotion of life conditions for both the poor and the needy, as well as the immigrants supporting program.

In this regard, PAM’s deputy and MP, Latifa El Hamoud, stated in a debate at the House of Representatives that many Moroccan immigrants suffer from vulnerability and extreme poverty, especially in Italy and Spain, stressing that these conditions have taken a turn for the worse due to the Covid-19 pandemic, since the latter has greatly affected the economic situation of the Moroccan community abroad.

El Hamoud has also emphasized that a 59-year-old Moroccan immigrant living in the Italian city of Torino (without shelter), died due to the cold wave sweeping Europe, noting that the dead man’s body was found lying in a local park, after spending the night in the open (unprotected).
