PAM Deputy and House of Representatives’ team member, Hicham Sabiri, addressed a written question to Morocco’s PM regarding the recent increase in edible oil prices.
In light of his correspondence, Sabiri stated that Moroccan consumers were rather shocked by the sudden increase in edible oil prices (effective Sunday), stressing that such increase came as a blow to people’s purchasing power, for the latter has been strongly affected due to the economic and social circumstances resulting from the Corona pandemic repercussions.
Within the same context, the MP called on the government to take the necessary measures to review these prices and address such practices, for they seriously undermine the purchasing power of Moroccan citizens.
It is noteworthy that several edible oil companies have raised their prices, causing Moroccan consumers to boycott different oil-based products via social networks, especially in light of the current economic and social circumstances that afflict large groups within our Society due to the Corona crisis.
