Parliament – Ouahbi’s says : what matters most is “to consolidate the democracy rules” in Morocco

In his intervention on Wednesday before the Interior committee at the parliament, PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, expressed his concern regarding the next electoral campaign, given the current economic crisis, the Coronavirus outbreak and the growing tensions with Algeria.

“We, as parties, are required to deal with these circumstances accordingly”, he said; noting that all partisan teams shall commit to the adjustments that will be soon submitted by the opposition”, Ouahbi said.

He underlined that what matters most in Morocco is “to consolidate the democracy rules”.

Ouahbi added : “PAM is willing to work together with PPS and Istiqlal teams to find the right political formula within an opposition framework”, stressing that PAM will meet again with both teams to discuss the adjustments at hand by the end of the week.

Ouahbi also called upon other parties to make compromises in order for the opposition to fulfil its political role, for such a step will reflect Morocco’s democratic model at a large scale.

Within the same context, Ouahbi stated that his party, along with all its counterparts, are committed to make use of everything in their disposal, for the future generations to enjoy political and social stability.

In Conclusion, Ouahbi called on the Minister of Interior to provide a more open political atmosphere in order for the next elections to succeed, regardless of the disputes within the Moroccan political scene.
