Education – PAM calls on El Othmani’s government to adapt « a pre-emptive approach »

PAM Politburo called on Algeria to adapt a rational approach vis-à-vis its relations with Morocco, by taking into account the cultural and historical ties that the two countries share and live by, as to overcome their current differences, and establish strong political relations, aimed at preserving the interests of both countries and populations.

“PAM Politburo members discussed the recent developments at the level of Morocco’s eastern borders, especially within Figuig province, in light of Algeria’s continuous threats to deport a number of Moroccan citizens from certain lands they have been occupying for decades”, the party’s politburo revealed in its communiqué.

“In light of their meeting on March 17, 2021, PAM politburo members praised both parliamentary chambers upon approving the law on social protection, which stands as a main priority for the time to come, provided that the king in person tended to cover this topic within a number of his speeches, upon which, he stressed the need to preserve people’s dignity, reduce social and spatial inequalities, and help the less fortunate overcome their difficult circumstances”, the communiqué added.

It is noteworthy that the meeting was chaired by PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, as it tended to discuss the most recent political developments at the national and international levels, as well as the upcoming elections and the party’s electoral preparations in this regard.

PAM politburo members have also shed light on the growing tensions within the educational sector, whether in terms of inequalities and imbalances resulting in remote examinations, especially among students who live in rural areas where digital means for studies have poor reception, or in terms of the continuous strikes among contractual teachers, which may jeopardize the whole educational system if the government is to remain stubborn when dealing with this matter.

“As for Covid-19 vaccination campaign, PAM politburo members urged the government to ensure continuous support for this process, and open a debate over the risks that AstraZeneca vaccine may bring upon, provided that several countries around the world have suspended its use”, the communiqué indicated.

+ Politburo members denounced the unjustified attacks that PAM was subject to in light of its electoral campaign +

It is noteworthy that Morocco’s vaccination process has been receiving international praise, thanks to the concerted efforts within several public and health institutions, under the guidance and supervision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him.

Within the same context, PAM Politburo members shed light on the stifling crisis that haunts different tourism professionals, including investors, hotel owners, employees, craftsmen, and others; noting that the government is required to intervene accordingly, in order to prevent restaurants and coffee places from facing the same outcome.

PAM Politburo members also expressed their delight over Ouahbi’s meeting with a group of Moroccan authors, artists and actors, in light of the party’s openness to art in all its varieties.

With regard to the upcoming elections, PAM politburo members shed light on the parliamentary teams’ significant contribution and discipline, as well as their participation in discussing and approving the organizational law related to the elections, stressing that the electoral aspect reflects Morocco’s democratic development upon decades of democratic struggle, as well as intellectual, political and legal creativity. Politburo members have also denounced the unjustified attacks that PAM was subject to in light of its electoral campaign, for the latter tends to build new political relations based on clarity, and promote mutual respect between all political components.

+ Ouahbi’s successful visit to the Al Hoceima region +

Moreover, the politburo members emphasized their secretary general’s directives in this regard, for Ouahbi has earlier called on his fellow militants to not respond to these attacks and accusations, urging them to rather work on creating perceptions and finding solutions to the many economic and social issues, problems and challenges facing our country.

By virtue of the above, PAM politburo members stated that the main dangers representing a threat to Morocco’s democratic path are mainly reflected in the inequalities in terms of free and honourable electoral competition between the opposition (which lacks tools and resources), and the majority, that enjoys access to more resources, as well as different other sectoral programs and public licenses, which were allocated to gain the support of senior electors. In addition, as the election date is getting closer, the majority has been enduring a series of rising conflicts leading to political wars between its components.

The communiqué also stated that, with regard to the party’s internal affairs, the Political Bureau has taken note of Ouahbi’s successful communicative visit to the Al Hoceima region in particular and Rif in general, as to strengthen the party’s communicative mechanisms vis-à-vis its militants and representatives within the said area, and also open a debate over the current developments in the region; calling at the same for the release of Rif detainees to help create a general breakthrough, for the latter shall serve as an entry point meant to conduct the upcoming elections under favorable and distinctive conditions.
