Sahara – A delegation of young American Democrats starts a working visit to Dakhla

A delegation of young American Democrats started an official visit to Dakhla, this Thursday (April 1st), to explore business opportunities between Morocco and the US in one of the kingdom’s richest regions.

The delegation held a meeting with the Director General of the Regional Investment Center (CRI), Mr. Mounir Houari, to discuss investment opportunities in several productive sectors within the region.

For his part, Mr. Houari brought the attention of the aforementioned delegation to the various investment opportunities in Dakhla, mainly in terms of renewable energies, the promotion of seafood, aquaculture, trade, and tourism.

Mr. Houari also pointed that “CRI is committed to supporting young entrepreneurs (men and women) willing to establish small and medium-sized businesses”.

It is noteworthy that the members of the American delegation were “astonished” to learn about the investment opportunities that the region seems to offer, as well as the work conducted so far by Dakhla’s public institutions.

On this occasion, delegation member, Mrs. Heather Brown, recalled visiting Dakhla region in 2010, and pointed that, upon her recent visit, she has noticed “a big change” within the city’s structures, especially in terms of socio-economic development.

The American delegation will also engage in a series of talks with several local officials, for it is expected to take part in a joint meeting to discuss “the autonomy plan in Sahara”, this Friday, April 2, 2021.
