PAM politburo held a meeting under the chairmanship of the party’s Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, on Tuesday, April 27, to discuss the latest political developments at the national and international levels, as well as the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections and some internal affairs.
This is the PAM statement:
“Following the presentation made by the party’s Secretary-General regarding the latest national and international political developments, PAM politburo members (attendees) tended to highlight the most recent developments with regard to our territorial integrity, vis-à-vis the international community.
Within this context, PAM politburo members expressed their satisfaction with the outcome of the Security Council’s latest meeting over the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara, for Morocco managed to expose and thwart the various manoeuvres conducted by those opposing the kingdom’s territorial integrity. This, however, requires all social components to show more vigilance, whether inside or outside the country, to expose and thwart all the despicable manoeuvres that are being hatched up against the interests of our territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, PAM politburo members expressed their rejection of Spain’s unjustified move upon receiving the leader of the Polisario front, for the latter is listed as a war criminal and runs on its judiciary’s wanted list. PAM politburo members have also denounced such reckless action for it does not comply with the diplomatic norms and international laws in force, provided that Spain broke faith with the good neighbourly relations between Moroccan and Spanish peoples, which usually evoke cooperation and support, rather than division.
With regard to PAM’s foreign relations, PAM politburo members reflected on the party delegation’s visit to Tunisia, as it aimed to deepen the brotherly political relations with Tunisian parties and parliamentary groups, in order to establish a productive dialogue between Moroccan and Tunisian political parties, with the purpose of expanding this dialogue and rapprochement to include all Maghrebin parties; This will inevitably benefit the peoples and the stability of the region as a whole, thus it shall contribute to winning the battle against the various security, political and economic challenges that have increased in intensity in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.
As for the latest developments related to the coronavirus pandemic, PAM politburo members expressed their appreciations for the efforts made by the state, under the haut-patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in terms of importing more vaccine doses to our country. On the other hand, PAM politburo members denounced the government’s reckless policies vis-à-vis those deemed affected by the night curfew decision during the holy month of Ramadan, recalling that at a time where socially-covered coffee and restaurant workers were awaiting governmental compensations as has been promised to them, the government announced, through one of its cabinet members, that it shall relinquish its previous promises as it is unable to provide support to all workers, thus provoking the public opinion and commoners.
Pertaining to the upcoming elections and the heated political debate that shall arise in the process, PAM politburo members reaffirmed their adherence to the party’s positions expressed earlier by the party’s SG, while condemning, at the same time, the open exploitation of governmental means to win over prominent voters, by intensifying the use of public assets and licenses in premature electoral campaigns. PAM politburo members have also warned against party leaders who tend to use politics in order to serve their own economic interests, as well as engaging in charitable actions and exploiting those in need for electoral purposes, by mobilizing and funding a civil charitable foundation for that matter.
The politburo is committed to expose such actions in respect to the constitutional regulations, democratic choices, political pluralism, as well as free, fair and honourable competition.
Members of the Politburo have later on urged the public authorities to intervene to stop these electoral campign mockeries that reflect nothing but incomprehensible fanaticism, while damaging Morocco’s democracy model as well as its reputation. They also called on the government to come up with strict laws that regulate the process of public charity and preserve its national social solidarity framework, away from open political exploitation.
With regard to the party’s internal affairs and the ongoing preparations for the upcoming elections, PAM politburo members shed light on the positive organizational atmosphere that the party’s apparatus and structures have contributed to all over the country, as well as the promising results achieved so far by the party in terms of nominations, and the unconditioned support that PAM militants have for the party’s modernist political and societal project, provided that the latter stands as a much needed alternative, in response to the global crisis that our country has been experiencing due to the government’s improvised, confusing and weak management.”
