Govt. Council Adopts Draft Decrees Setting Elections’ Dates and Calendars

The Government Council, which convened on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Head of Government Saad Dine El Otmani, adopted the draft decrees setting the dates and calendars relating to the electoral operations planned this year in the Kingdom.

These are draft decree N° 2.21.352 setting the date of election of the members of the chambers of agriculture, draft decree N° 2.21.353 setting the date of election of members of the chambers of commerce, industry and services, handicraft and fisheries and draft decree N° 2.21.354 setting the date for the election of members of the councils of communes and districts, said government spokesperson Saaid Amzazi, in a statement read during a press briefing held at the end of the meeting.

It also concerns draft decree N° 2.21.355 setting the date of election of the members of the regions’ councils, of draft decree N° 2.21.356 setting the date of election of the members of the House of Representatives, of draft decree N° 2.21.357 setting the date of election of the members of the councils of prefectures and provinces and of draft decree N° 2.21.358 setting the date of election of the members of the House of Advisors, he said, adding that these texts were presented by the Interior Minister.

Amzazi said that it was decided to schedule these events as follows: the election of members of professional chambers (chambers of commerce, industry and services, handicraft, fisheries and agriculture) on Friday August 6, members of the House of Representatives, and region, commune and district councils on Wednesday September 8, 2021, members of the prefectural and provincial councils on Tuesday September 21, 2021 and the election of members of the House of Advisors on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
