PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, stated that the state of Morocco shall be held accountable for the safety of abandoned Moroccan children throughout the world, noting that the current government has brought nothing but disgrace to those trapped in Syria and Iraq by deliberately ignoring their right for a return.
“A large number of Moroccan children, aged 8 to 10, are currently enduring harsh circumstances in both Iraq and Syria, upon losing their guardians to terrorist groups”, Ouahbi revealed on this week’s House of Representatives’ session, pointing that two of these children are currently trapped in Turkey hoping for a return back home, however, no competent party seems eager to have them returned despite holding all of their official documents.
Within this context, PAM’s Chief and current Head of the Investigation Committee in charge of Moroccans trapped in Iraq and Syria, Abdellatif Ouahbi, indicated that the competent authorities are not in a position to abandon these children the same way their parents abandoned them once, stressing that the Moroccan government shall be held accountable for these children’s lives.
“The situation that these displaced children are enduring in Iraq and Syria is a disgrace to us all”, he added.
