Casablanca: Moroccan MPs « to assume their duties in full… » (M. Ouahbi)

PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, held, on Thursday, an important communicative meeting in Casablanca, with a number of prominent businessmen and party militants from Casablanca and Souss-Massa region respectively, to discuss the latest developments in Morocco, as well as PAM’s electoral program ahead of the upcoming elections.

On this occasion, Ouahbi emphasized the significant role played by the Moroccan Parliament – as a constitutional institution – in improving citizens’ lives and promoting social justice, stressing that undermining such a role represents a serious blow to Morocco’s democratic progress, for statements of this nature only serve self-interest lobbies and those tending to exploit their political influence from within this honorable institution.

Ouahbi also called on Moroccan MPs, upon their election for the upcoming term, to fulfil their duties in full behind the Parliament’s corridors, for they are required to show both vigilance and diligence while pleading for the well-being of their fellow citizens, as well as monitoring the work conducted by the government, discussing and improving laws, and ensuring the parliament’s fulfilment of its duties accordingly.

Within this context, Ouahbi urged his fellow MPs within Souss-Massa region to pressure the government into bringing more investments to the region to put an end to the current marginalization policies.

Meanwhile, Ouahbi stressed the need for Souss-Massa region to seek developmental projects, especially in terms of agriculture and industry, for the region’s structures shall address the existing issues by urging all components to engage in the path for progress.

During the course of the meeting, Ouahbi expressed his deep appreciation for the people of Taroudant, stating that they have always stood in support of him, and that he shall keep on the hard work for PAM to take part in the next government.

With regard to the upcoming elections, Ouahbi denounced the electoral breaches taking place in several regions, claiming that certain parties tend to use funds to earn support prior to the election date.

Commenting on the current government’s performance, Ouahbi expressed his dissatisfaction with the way El Othmani’s government tends to pass a series of decisive laws, for the latter is deemed unsuitable for the parliament’s terms of conduct.

In conclusion, PAM’s chief shed light on the progress achieved by the party’s structures upon their fourth session, mainly in terms of political discourse and organizational dynamics, noting that PAM’s components are required to join forces and keep on the good work to preserve the party’s essence and consolidate its presence in the future.
