Morocco’s Minister of Health to tighten restrictions due to the laxity in adhering to Covid-19 precautionary measures

In a statement made public on June 30, 2021, the Moroccan Ministry of Health called on all citizens to adhere to the precautionary measures aimed at addressing the Covid-19 outbreak.

“All citizens are required to respect the precautionary measures in force”, Moroccan Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, told the press, noting that his ministry will be under the obligation of tightening restrictions, if needed, despite the negative impact that such a decision might have on prominent sectors.

“Upon monitoring Morocco’s epidemiological development for the past two days, we came to realize that the number of Covid-19 cases has increased significantly compared to the trend recorded over the past few months”, Aït Taleb added.

Morocco has managed to achieve “important results in terms of monitoring and controlling the epidemiological situation”, by adhering to HM’s proactive directives, the Minister stressed.

Aït Taleb also indicated that the vaccination process is still in progress, for one third of the population received vaccines so far, recalling that the results achieved at this point shall be preserved by respecting the precautionary measures in force, thus avoiding new quarantine scenarios.
