In honor of the joint initiative by PJD Secretary General, Saad-Eddine El Othmani, and PAM Chief, Abdellatif Ouahbi, both parties held an important meeting, on July 24, 2021 (corresponding to 13 Dhu al-Hijjah, 1442), at PJD’s central headquarters in Rabat.
Through their meeting, both parties tended to preserve their communicative links with the rest of their partisan counterparts, as well as exchanging views and examining the latest developments nationwide.
Within this context, the parties engaged in a series of discussions relating to Morocco’s espionage allegations, denouncing at the same time the foreign media outrage aimed at undermining Morocco’s reputation, by promoting serious accusations stipulating Morocco’s usage of a spyware with the purpose of tracking phone conversations connecting several high-profile officials. In addition, the attendees agreed that these allegations were promoted by Morocco’s enemies behind closed corridors, therefore, the competent authorities are to respond accordingly via legal means.
Within this frame of reference, both parties shed light on a number of issues, mainly those relating to Covid-19 pandemic and the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, the attendees expressed their admiration for HM’s rigorous efforts while dealing with the pandemic, as well as the work accomplished by Morocco’s competent authorities in this regard, especially in terms of the highly praised vaccination campaign that granted Morocco a leading position in both Africa and the world, provided the fact that Morocco shall soon engage in its own vaccine production project.
On this occasion, both parties are committed to share their concerns over the rising Coronavirus rates, and shall, therefore, call all citizens to abide by the necessary precautionary measures stipulated by the authorities in charge, in order to preserve lives and avoid any possible repercussions (God forbid).
On the other hand, the attendees discussed the preparations for the upcoming elections, and covered a series of misconducts and practices marking such a process. Both PJD and PAM expressed their willingness to contribute productively to the election campaign (in full respect of Morocco’s constitution), and denounced all means aimed at jeopardizing the principles of freedom and transparency throughout the elections, such as the use of unjustified funding and intimidation.
In this regard, both parties shall call upon the competent authorities to intervene accordingly in order to ensure a healthy electoral environment, for we shall all be held responsible before the law, the constitution and HM the king, in respect of Morocco’s democratic choices.
With regard to Morocco’s political, democratic and developmental scenes, both parties stressed the need to work closely with their partisan counterparts through their parliamentary representatives, in order to address Morocco’s main challenges, namely the pandemic and the National Chapter for Development, as well as means for collaboration between both parties’ elected officials in several communes and provinces.
PAM and PJD shall hereby express their willingness to strengthen their partnership in the prospect of achieving progress and prosperity for the people of Morocco, and shall commit to their partisan obligations in order to overcome the existing challenges.
