Ouarzazate – Ouahbi says marginalized components shall take part in the developmental process

PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, held a meeting within Ouarzazate province, in the presence of several party militants and elected regional officials.

During the meeting, Ouahbi stated that Ouarzazate is currently enduring several issues, especially those related to water scarcity, thus representing a serious threat to Draa-Tafilalet region as a whole.

Within this context, Ouahbi urged the government to intervene accordingly to solve the problem, noting that the projects within the region are quite limited, for some areas still suffer full isolation.

“The isolated areas within Ouarzazate lack proper roadways connecting them to the rest of the region”, Ouahbi stressed, wondering at the same time about the continuing isolation policies within Draa-Tafilalet region.

“Finding proper solutions to such problems requires both political and institutional mobilization in order for these forgotten regions to take part in Morocco’s developmental plan”, he added.

On the other hand, PAM’s chief affirmed that it is now time to put Ouarzazate on the map by launching a series of projects, mainly those related to tourism, provided that the city’s economy depends entirely on its handicraft production, as well as its film industry.

In conclusion, Ouahbi stressed the need to choose the right people in order to meet the region’s uprising challenges, noting that PAM is currently engaging in a series of communicative meetings throughout the region as part of its preparations for the upcoming elections, for the party tends to include the marginalized portions of society in the said area within its developmental process.
