Elections – PAM: Ouahbi holds a consultative meeting with his party MPs

PAM Secretary General, Abdellatif Ouahbi, held on September 15th, in Salé, a consultative meeting with his respective parliamentary team, to discuss the latest political developments in Morocco.

Ouahbi stressed that the meeting is of great significance to the party for it follows Morocco’s parliamentary, regional and communal elections, noting that the latter represents a great opportunity to evaluate the party’s results objectively and responsibly, as well as outlining the party’s future political stages, in light of the current political developments.

“The current constraints require taking full responsibility and making relevant decisions”, Ouahbi said in his speech to his respective parliamentary team members, claiming that this consultative meeting, along with others, aim at outlining the party’s position in the future, with full regard to our nation’s interests.

Ouahbi also called on PAM parliamentary team members to act in their capacity of Morocco’s representatives and serve as the party’s political interface, for they shall defend people’s interests nationwide, in full honesty, integrity, sacrifice and selflessness, while acting vigilantly from their respective positions in order to address the government’s political conciseness, for the good of the people.

In this respect, Ouahbi expressed his gratitude, on behalf of all PAM militants, to King Mohammed VI, for his firm will and respect for the constitution, as well as his preservation of Morocco’s democratic choices, thus promoting our country to a leading democratic state by organizing the elections in due time, despite the multiple constraints caused by the pandemic, stressing that Morocco’s democratic experience shall enhance our country’s bright image among all nations and partners, for Morocco’s democracy stems from our people’s adherence to their king and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, Ouahbi congratulated the National Rally of Independents (RNI) for winning the elections, and wished its President, Aziz Akhannouch, good fortune upon his appointment as Prime Minister by HM the King.

Within the same context, Ouahbi expressed his congratulations to the new parliamentary team for earning people’s trust and winning the elections, while praising all party militants for the positive results they achieved in the process. Ouahbi also expressed his appreciation for Moroccan citizens in general, and Sahara inhabitants in particular, for their active participation in the recent elections, despite the pandemic’s constraints.

“The September 8 elections did not only constitute a qualitative leap in consolidating Morocco’s democratic path and choices, but also resulted in the rise of three main parties as the majority, which shall form an unprecedented and favorable ground for the formation of a legitimate and harmonious political alliance, in all democracy and transparency”, Ouahbi declared.

“By virtue of the electoral results and the historical responsibility they carry upon, we shall call on all political parties to stand in support of constructive dialogue and cooperation, to build a solid democratic ground, in order to develop politics within our country, and enable political parties to more pioneering roles within society”, he added.

“The electoral outcome has brought us to believe in the importance of respecting people’s choices and adhering to democratic values, in the prospect of inaugurating a new political phase that abides by the true meaning of democracy”, Ouahbi indicated, noting that Morocco’s new institutional mandates have been determined by voters, therefore, PAM is keen on overcoming its differences with RNI in the prospect of working together to form the new government, in order to serve the public interest and consolidate democratic choices in our country.

Meanwhile, Ouahbi expressed his gratitude to both PPS and PI parties for their significant contributions to the opposition during the previous term, claiming that their joint efforts were in fact fruitful, for both parties managed to practice their opposition rights responsibly, using all constitutional means to monitor the government and develop alternative solutions.

“Today, we are keen on working closely with all parties to serve the public interest”, he resumed.

“Serious and responsible political parties maintain a distinguished position at both social and political levels”, Ouahbi affirmed, stressing that the decline in the number of PJD’s seats shall not diminish the party’s patriotism and significant role in preserving Morocco’s constitutional constraints (in reference to the two previous mandates), and that PAM is keen on collaborating with the said party for the latter shall always be needed.

“Today, PAM enjoys significant social, political and institutional roots, which are reflected in the party’s presence inside Morocco’s regions and communes; however, we are keen on making greater contributions to the elected constitutional institutions”, Ouahbi pointed out.

“Our impressive results throughout the elections have brought upon a series of responsibilities towards our country and citizens, which we shall bear responsibly, whether we join the government or serve as an opposition party; therefore, we are keen on playing our role in full from our respective position, regardless of where we stand”, PAM’s chief concluded.
