Covid-19: Epidemiological Situation in Continuous Improvement (Official)

The epidemiological situation in Morocco is getting better and the downward phase has continued without any bad surprises for the past 7 weeks, said the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations at the Ministry of Health, Mouad Merabet.

Morocco still remains at orange level with 4 regions at green level, 7 regions at orange level and only one region at red level, Merabet said on his LinkedIn account in a brief commentary on the epidemiological situation of Covid-19 titled “Delta wave decline continues.”
The reproduction rate of SARS-COV-2 as of 03/10/2021 is 0.84 (+/- 0.01), he said, noting that the level of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in Morocco is moderate.

“The most striking data in the last two weeks is that the number of patients who left the services of intensive care and resuscitation after improvement of their health conditions, is greater than new admissions in the same services,” said Merabet, recalling that the balance in resuscitation was red for 17 consecutive weeks.

Regarding the number of deaths, he reported a decline of 33% this week, adding that new severe cases have decreased by 41% compared to the week of September 20 to 26.
Merabet also welcomed the smooth conduct of the election campaign and elections last month in compliance with restrictive and preventive measures, noting that “the cases we have seen on some videos, remain exceptions”.

“Now remains to succeed the challenge of the return to school, but also the lifting of restrictions in force for several days,” he added.
Merabet recalled the importance of vaccination, individual and collective preventive measures and strict compliance with the national therapeutic protocol, while warning against the “lies” that circulate.
