The newly-appointed government by King Mohamed VI, last Thursday October 7, is characterized by a group of young qualified Moroccans who have hold Ministerial portfolios, among them Mr. Mehdi Bensaid, who was appointed Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication.
Mr. Bensaid was born in Rabat on October 26 1984, after he got his Baccalaureate, he went to France to finish his post graduate studies and got his Masters’ in geopolitics and international relations – conflict resolution – in Toulouse, France, session 2009, he also got another Masters’ degree in politics, management and development (2016).
Mr. Bensaid chaired “The League of Moroccan Democratic Youth” (2008-2013) which was an important platform for NGO action, particularly in relations with youth issues and civic values inside the “Movement for all Democrats” which has constituted the initial building block for the PAM foundation.
Mr. Bensaid got the opportunity to run for the 2011 legislative general elections under the banner of “The Youth National List” and so succeeded in winning membership of the House of Representatives Legislative mandate of 2011 – 2016; then he became chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Foreign Affairs, National Defense, Islamic Affairs and Moroccan community abroad; he was an outstanding member of similar youth commissions at the level of world Parliaments
He also held the position of chairman of the Parliamentary Moroccan Burmese friendship group
In September 2014, Mr. Bensaid was elected chairman of the African Union of young Parliamentarians during the founding general meeting held in Rabat with the participation of representatives from 27 African states.
In September 2015, M. Bensaid ran for communal elections and so won his seat at the Agdal – Riyadh District.
At the level of party organization, Mr. Bensaid, being the offset of the “PAM school” by excellence, has worked for a long period with the youth inside the party and has therefore acquired a large experience; he was a member of the PAM National Council and the party Secretariat, to be appointed later member of the PAM political bureau until today.
During the last legislative elections of September 8; 2021, Bensaid became member of Parliament for the legislative district of Rabat – L’Ocean.
