Profile – Ms. Leila Benali.. International expert on energy strategy appointed Minister of Energy Transfer and Sustainable Development

King Mohammed VI appointed last Thursday, October 7 at the Royal Palace in Fez, Ms. Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transfer and Sustainable Development among the newly-appointed cabinet head by Mr. Aziz Akhnouch.

​Ms. Benali holds a Masters’ degree in industrial engineering from the Mohammedia School of Engineers/EMI; she graduated from the Central School in Paris, in addition to a Masters’ in political sciences; she holds a PhD in Energy Economics from the Institute of Basic Sciences.

​Ms. Leila Benali enjoys a large professional experience in the field of energy strategies and sustainability, the fact which will contribute to implement the new government program; she is also director of strategy in economics and sustainability at “Apicorp” and President of the Arab Energy Club.

​Ms. Leila Benali has a large experience in the energy markets, trends that influence the sector, and in the policy of energy transfer to a low-carbon economy.

​She has led various projects along her professional experience, including policy and strategy-making for governments and energy companies, industrial investors and institutions.

​Ms. Benali has previously worked as director of “IHS CERA ISH Mark”, with Shelmberger company and has taught energy at many universities.

Minister Leila Benali has contributed to the elaboration of the new development model project, as a member of the special commission for the new development model presided over by Mr. Chakib Benmoussa.
