Parliament – PAM called on the government to respect its socio- economic commitments and pursue mobilization on the Sahara issue

The PAM group at the House of Representatives called last Wednesday on the government to respect its commitments in all sectors, particularly in education, training, youth, fight against joblessness and poverty; and to pursue diplomatic mobilization for the defense of the Kingdom territorial integrity.

Chairman of the PAM group, Mr. Ahmed Touizi has hailed, within the framework of reviewing the government program before deputies, the principle commitments made by the government aimed at responding to urgent social expectations, to overcome the pandemic impacts and achieve an economic take-off.

He has cited in particular all of the creation of at least one million jobs during the next five years, achievement of global social protection, enlargement of the middle class, mobilization of the educational system to bring Morocco to rank among the 60 best countries in the world, implementation of the official characteristic of Berber/Amazigh, mainly through the creation of a special fund with one billion MAD in sight of 2025; as well as the improvement of macro-economic balances.

Those ambitious commitments confirm the government determination to strengthen the bases of social state, enhance human capital, consecrate its rights and ensure its well-being, Mr. Touzani has added, congratulating at the same time the government willingness to deal with reforming public school to train national competencies, enhance teachers’ job and improve their working condition.

In the same context, Mr. Touizi continued by saying that a new breath should be given to the sectors of culture, youth and sports, which have largely been affected by the Covid -19 pandemic, adding that the development model of our country “has attained its limit” in the manner that it has become necessary to reinforce productive sectors and services to create more jobs and fight youth joblessness.

Chairman of the PAM group has urged the government to launch social and economic reforms starting with reviewing prices, reducing the state budget deficits and speeding up projects implementation.

Regarding the Sahara issue, Mr. Touizi has reaffirmed that the defense of the Kingdom territorial integrity is “an absolute priority for all Moroccans”, inviting the government to pursue the development process in the Southern provinces through the implementation of the new development model on behalf of those regions, which constitutes an essential leverage for the valorization of the rich natural and human resources.

Mr. Touizi has pledged in this venue for the following up of the mobilization of all social categories and of all the nation political forces, under His Majesty King Mohammed VI wisdom to bring a strong response to the maneuvers and provocations by the opponents of the Kingdom territorial integrity.

He has pointed out that Morocco has not managed to use all means to protect its security and stability, to preserve its national and territorial unity, protect its sovereignty and defend its own interests.

In this context, he has hailed the diplomatic victory won by Morocco concerning the Moroccan Sahara issue, under the strong impulsion of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, especially with the most recent recognition by the U.S. of Morocco’s full sovereignty over its entire Sahara.

He has also paid tribute to the efforts undertaken by Morocco to attain a “realistic, applicable, fair and durable solution to the Palestinian issue”, by respecting legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state with Al Quds as its capital.
