Mr. Rachid Al Abdi, President of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra regional council presided last Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Governor’s Office in Salé, along with Mr. Omar Touimi, the Governor of Salé, over a consultative meeting about regional development program 2022-2027.
This consultative meeting has come in the context of a series of broader consultative meetings with local authorities, territorial communes, external services and other interveners and active players at the region level, to set up a platform to identify needs and other development constraints at the region’s level and discuss proposals by those active players to find common ground between the regional development program and the national development model as it was presented to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
In this context, the President of the region has stressed the importance of everybody’s integration in the process of meeting socio economic development challenges at the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, outlining that the region enjoys many major development components that need a collective efficient approach.
Mr. Rachid Al Abdi has reiterated that due to its own potentials, the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region is called on to reach a development ceiling that goes above 6.5% leveled by the government as an average national growth rate, reminding that the goal behind those meetings is to elaborate provincial development models aimed at achieving a regional development based on investment and fighting vulnerability through a social approach which encourages the incitement of economic wheel at the province level.
Mr. Al Abdi has also pointed out to the importance of inciting local investment at the level of Salé Governor’s Office, through inviting local capital to invest in the opportunities being provided by the regional headquarters commission under the presidency of the Wali of the region and by other seven Governors’ Offices in the region through focusing on the region’s important potentials which have enjoyed a bigger government investment support.
Mr. Rachid Al Abdi has emphasized the importance of investment, both national and foreign, as an incitement for regional development, highlighting the promising potentials the region enjoys to attract foreign capitals as an impetus to strengthen national investment of both public and private to create job opportunities for the young after qualification to become appropriate with the needs of job market, clarifying that this measure targets qualified young people from the region that extends along the coastal line from Skhirate-Temara to Kenitra.
President of the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra has urged presidents of territorial communes at the Salé Governor’s Office to be open to university institutions on the basis that the region includes the kingdom’s major university pole and therefore educational and scientific training could contribute to development efforts and help link the university with its socio economic environment to be at the service of the region.
