The House of Councilors adopted unanimously in a general legislative session last Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the bill number 30.22 about accomplishing royal decree number 1.58.008 as the basic general status for public administration.
The bill, adopted unanimously by the House of Representatives during a general session, aims at reinforcing the rights of Moroccan administrative staff, men and women, and so to allow them to make successful their professional careers and private lives, in full harmony with the principle of common responsibility embraced by Moroccan families; this principle was reaffirmed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in his royal speeches and in full implementation of the international agreement provisions number 183 regarding the revision of the agreement related to the protection of motherhood endorsed by the World Employment Organization in its 88th session and which was adopted by Morocco on April 13, 2011.
The bill includes new provisions including a granted permission for fatherhood, another one about sponsorship, and another granted permission for breast feeding; a fatherhood permission for 15 pay days leave for a man who gets a child; and a granted 15 pay days leave permission for an employee who legally sponsors a child of under 24 months of age.
A female employee also benefits from sponsorship leave permission over a period of 14 weeks; and can also benefit from leave permission on birth or sponsorship case, till the newborn or sponsored baby reaches 24 months.
PAM team at the House of Councilors has considered that this bill is aimed at adopting measures to implement motherhood rights and children’s care, expressing on the occasion its appreciation of all the provisions brought up by the bill and its important impacts on the lives of staff and their families as well.
