Minister Leila Benali discusses with gas stations professionals solutions to the crisis of lubricants prices increase

Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Mrs. Leila Benali held last Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at her office in Rabat, a meeting with a delegation representing the National Federation of Gas Stations Managers in Morocco, in the presence of director of lubricants and chief of the Minister’s staff.

According to a communiqué issued by the federation, the meeting has discussed various issues and emergency files which concern professionals, including the implementation of hydrocarbons regulations, which were adopted since 2015.

According to the same source, there was an agreement about the constitution of a broad common committee between the Ministry and the federation, which will include other government sectors and different components in relation with the sector.

The meeting has reached another agreement about holding a meeting with Moroccan petrol association GPM, by intervention of the Ministry to reach solutions about pending issues between gas stations owners and companies, especially issues that have emergency aspects.

The point of minimum tax level was raised during the meeting and gas stations professionals have asked the Minister for endorsing this specific point and have proposed its cancellation by the Ministry of Finance in the budget law.

Minister Benali has expressed her understanding for that point especially in the current circumstance characterized by a spike of lubricants prices.

The National Federation of Gas Stations Managers is expected to communicate by messaging Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Nadia Fettah Alaoui, and Minister Delegate in Charge of the Budget, Mr. Faouzi Leqjaa, to discuss this specific point before submitting the budget bill to Parliament.
