The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication has revealed the results of subvention for the sector of publishing and books for 2022, as it was agreed to subsidy 600 projects with an overall envelope package of MAD million and 928 thousands.
A communiqué issued by the Ministry has referred to the fact that the Ministry has been eager to apply quality and merit criteria in examining and selecting projects that are submitted in accordance with specifications about subventions standards.
The communiqué has informed that a committee to examine projects requests to be benefit from subventions from publishing and book sector for 2022 held meetings between 16 June and 7 July 2022, to examine and study requests of candidacy projects that have reached 1234 files and so 660 projects were accepted for subvention, with an amount estimated at MAD 10 million and 923 thousands.
The communiqué has made clear that the results of subvention are shared among book publishing (337 projects out of 718/ with amount of MAD 4 million and 46 thousands); publication of cultural magazines (60 projects out of 105 projects/with an amount of MAD 933 thousands); publication of e-magazines (4 projects out of 8 projects/with an amount of MAD 105 thousands, sensitization for reading (86 projects out of 117 projects/with an amount of MAD 1 million and 348 thousands.
According to the same communiqué, subvention has also included the participation of Moroccan writers in establishing authors’ bodies (11 projects out of 21/with an amount of MAD 139 thousands; the participation in international book fairs (82 projects out of 129 projects/with an amount of MAD 2 million and 393 thousands); and subvention for libraries (80 projects out of 133 projects/with an amount of MAD 1 million and 964 thousands); while no publishing subvention was allocated to individuals in handicapped situation for failure of submitting projects that respond to selection criteria.
