Members of justice, legislation and human rights at the House of Representative adopted last Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the presence of Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, two project bills, number 13.22 and 14.22 about the Higher Council for Judiciary Power and project bill number 106.13 about judges’ statute.
Members of the commission have made proposed amendments on the current version, while Minister of Justice has expressed his thankfulness to all members of the commission for their interest in updating and improving those two texts which are considered as a fundamental building block in accomplishing the construction of judiciary power independence.
The updated version of those tow project bills includes a number of provisions and amendments susceptible to achieve more efficiency at the level of judicial action in our country and implement judiciary power independence; and also to achieve justice in accordance to royal supreme instructions in this field.
The amendments will help allow the Higher Council for Judiciary Power to have sufficient means and tools to carry out its mission in the best manner, enhance its performance, and fully play its role in training, assessing and moralizing judges.
Those amendments aim also at reviewing the process of selecting judges to be attached to the Kingdom’s embassies in some countries, in which Morocco is integrated in the developed model of judiciary cooperation, in addition to reexamining judges’ ranking, their retirement and training.
