Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi: The Justice Ministry is working on updating the map of Al Odouls’ (sharia notaries) offices and its redistribution for the benefit of documentation services

Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, has stated that the Ministry of Justice is working on updating the map of Al Odouls’ offfices (sharia notaries), and its redistribution for the benefit of documentation services and to meet Al Odouls profession needs.

In this context, Minister Ouahbi has referred, in response to a written question submitted by MP Ibrahim Ben Didi – from PAM – to the fact that the Ministry has communicated with all presidents of courts of first instance to get their opinions about offices that might be suspended and dispensed, and areas where new Odouls’ offices could be created, by defining the necessary number to cover for those offices, in light of documentation size and need to bring Al Odouls’ offices closer to citizens, especially in areas where there is an increasing documentation demand and activity, and also to allow Al Odouls to open their offices in appropriate centers and carry out their profession in the best conditions.

Out of the Ministry’s eager consideration to achieve a fair distribution for Al Odouls’ offices at the level of all judiciary districts, Mr. Ouahbi added that the Ministry will work to update the decision that limits the number of Al Odouls and their offices as well.

Minister Ouahbi has made clear that limiting the number of Al Odouls’ centers and the number of Al Odouls is defined by law in accordance to the provisions of article 14 of the bill 16.03 about the Al Odouls’ profession, outlining that four years after the above-mentioned resolution went into effect it has been clear that those data have become outdated and therefore an updating of new map for Al Odouls’ offices is required.
