Politburo communiqué

PAM Politburo and regional secretaries held a meeting presided over by Secretary General, Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, last Monday, January 16, 2023, to discuss new developments of the national political scene, some international organizational issues of the party militant schedule for 2023; and after a deep discussion of different points which were raised in the political presentation made by Secretary General, we confirm the following:

  • On behalf of all the party’s militants, we present to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and to the entire Moroccan people, our warmest congratulations on the occasion of the new Amazigh (Berber) year, praying The Almighty Allah to bring more progress, security and prosperity to our king and our people. It’s also an opportunity to praise all different efforts undertaken by the government to activate Berber/Amazigh language, especially its latest decision to translate into Berber language different legislative texts and publish them in the official bulletin; and also the size of important agreements signed last week by a number of cabinet ministers to implement Berber language at different administration use, including signs, transportation means and websites.
  • We condemn the malicious behavior  that has accompanied the opening of soccer sports events in Algeria (CHAN), which were supposed to remain in the true spirit of sports at its world human dimension supporting love and peace among peoples, instead of the political blindness of the Algerian government which has turned determinately a purely sports event to an opportunity of political enmity towards the Moroccan Kingdom’s territorial integrity, but even towards Moroccan soccer fans who have fingerprinted a nicer expression of civilized behavior and support witnessed by the world during the world cup in  Qatar, in flagrant violation of soccer rules internationally and at the African level.
  • In the same context, we highly praise the firm national position taken by the Royal Moroccan Soccer Federation which has rejected any compromise of national symbols and express our solidarity with our young national soccer selection which was banned from participating in this sports event, as a result of the Algerian government refusal to open Algerian air space to Moroccan air company/RAM, which is the official carrier to national selections.
  • We highly valuate the important agreement signed recently between the government and different most representative trade unions at higher education and today at national education about unprecedented incentives and measures for human resources seen as an introduction to public school reform; and also the agreement of unified basic status for all the sector’s staff; the fact which will give a new push for a strong reform to educational sector in Morocco.
  • We feel proud of our strong political and institutional stability in our country, the good management of its constitutional institutions and the popular confidence enjoyed by the government majority as endorsed by latest bi-elections after Moroccan citizens have expressed their support for modern and democratic reforms in different fields despite hard internal and external economic conditions; and on this occasion, we call on national politicians to make use of that confidence for the sake of our country’s development and progress.
  • We highly welcome the points included in the meeting held by the majority authority at the House of Representatives and its call to all majority components at the House to support and strengthen the on-going strong coherence amid government majority components and respect the ethic and political charter of the majority to advance economic, sectorial, social and cultural conditions of Moroccan citizens.
  • Regarding the party’s internal statute and after listening to new organizational reports about the preparations for national convention to establish the party’s both women and youth organizations, the meeting was informed about new reports that concern the party’s regional conventions, especially in Marrakech-Safi, Beni Mellal Khenifra, Casablanca-Settat and Deraa Tafilalet. The meeting has also talked about provincial and political programs for 2023.
  • Concerning vile campaign against the party’s leadership from time to time, led by the party’s enemies and some known and unknown sides, by using vile and immoral means and defamation targeting private life of the party’s ministers for the sake of settling political scores and disseminate malicious rumors, we condemn that vile campaign and express our absolute solidarity with our party’s leadership, shaking their hands and calling on them for more coherence more than at any time before for continuing modern reform and absolute support for advancing the conditions of vulnerable poor social communities, reinforcing women’s rights to bring them to assume their full responsibility along with their counterparts in the current government and with the responsible opposition as well to pursue the implementation of the government program in full solidarity and in  defense for the interest of different commitments made by our party with Moroccan citizens; and from our various positions inside the PAM, we underline that those malicious campaigns will not dissuade us from implementing the reforms which we believe to be in the mere interest of Moroccan citizens.
