Ouahbi: PAM is in harmony with the Government President and will pursue defending the Moroccan woman

PAM Secretary General Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi has stated that “our party occupies a decent place and we have become in the core of political decision-making and government stability, since we are part of that decision-making, and in case we make some observations, the matter comes within trust and honesty with the Government President; which we will not turn into a wrestling ring; actually we express our opinion, but in the end we respect the decision and this is common sense.”

In his statement made at the opening session of the PAM second regional convention, organized on Saturday, June 3, 2023, in Marrakech, Ouahbi added: “A lot of water has run under the bridge when PAM leadership and national council have decided to join the government after a long debate and we have come to the conclusion that after a vote we have decided to assume our responsibility in managing public matter; we are fully aware that the Government President has all the powers he delegates to ministers, that’s why we are working under his mandate in full harmony and coherence.”

“When we did not find certain political profiles in our party, we have had recourse to get assistance from well-experienced Moroccan women and men to manage some government issues, since ministerial responsibility is a right to all Moroccans and this is our approach; we deal with government as a cake and we have reaffirmed to Mr. Aziz Akhennouch that the government is not wrestling ring and that we assume our responsibility until the last breath”, has said Ouahbi.

Minister of Justice Mr. Ouahbi has asserted that his “party will purse defending equality and changing rules”, saying that “it’s out of ethics and duty to listen to women; without paying any attention to those who distort our discourse to offend us.”

PAM Secretary General has called for a frank debate about family status code, stressing that “I have made two presentations in jurisprudence to have a calm debate because we have committed ourselves to bring changes in the law, yet everybody has kept silence; and to women, I say that I have committed myself with them and I will do my best to carry out my task, because it’s the king’s determination, denying any delay in handling hot issues and files such as the penal code and family status reform.”

PAM Secretary General has stressed that changes process will be carried out and discussed institutionally and socially and needs a royal consent”, adding that “we are lucky to have the king as the center of power and as the arbitration power between political parties; and he has the very last decision, as President of the Moroccan state”.

Mr. Ouahbi has also warned that “the Moroccan Kingdom was founded on strong grounds which have safeguarded stability to this country, and we have decided that the religious sphere pertains to the king exclusively as he presides over the Higher Religious Council which includes prominent scholars responsible for looking into decisions of religious matters.”

Regarding party matters, Mr. Ouahbi has said that “I have got out of my health recovery, and this proves that we have become older and since the party is a young one, so we should be thinking of young leadership to assume this responsibility, those who have legitimacy and deserve it… and to give the opportunity to digital revolution generation, in which I strongly believe.”
