Minister of National Territory Rehabilitation, Urbanization, Housing and City Policy, Mrs. Fatima Zahra Mansouri, has stated in her response to a written question submitted by an MP about the Ministry’s measures concerning the “take-off program for Tameslhout”, that this program is witnessing a tangible progress.
Minister Mansouri has reaffirmed that her department new policy is aimed at creating new urbanization areas, providing appropriate decent housing conditions and minimizing pressure on big cities; this is, she said, was in conformity with His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s launching program in 2004 for the creation of Tameslouht city with a 12000 Hectare surface to shelter a population of about 200 thousand people (70 thousand are already living there) while providing 150 Hectare for public facilities.
An investment envelope of MAD 13367 million was dedicated to this urbanization and housing program which includes (3 dispensaries, space for praying, cultural complex, two iron passageways, multi-disciplinary halls and youth centers); there are other facilities in the process of completion such as covered sports halls, 10 sports fields, new roads, a southern roundabout, accessibilities for people of special needs, a mosque and green spaces.
The program has witnessed a tangible progress according to Minister Mansouri and all other programs are expected to be accomplished by the first quarter of 2023; before starting the construction of a university campus and local hospital.
