President of Marrakech communal council Mrs. Fatima Zahra Mansouri has confirmed that the extraordinary session held by the council on Sunday, September 17, 2023, has come to elaborate a common ground position and unify efforts among various political spectrums of the council, to offer support to earthquake-stricken populations and show sympathy for them; and also to express thankfulness to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and reaffirm that the Moroccan people, and Marrakech communities in particular, are all mobilized to overcome the repercussions of this natural catastrophe.
Mrs. Mansouri has made clear that this session was also an occasion to present a number of particular measures to shelter populations which have found themselves outside their houses and also present efforts to eliminate dust and landfills that have resulted out of the earthquake and bring life back to its natural track inside Marrakech; the session has also sent a strong message to tourists visiting the city that tourism flow will continue in Marrakech with the same strength since it is the major economic activity.
Mrs. Fatima Zahra Mansouri has considered that the session was also an occasion to send a strong message of solidarity to the populations in Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Azilal and Ouarzazat, by announcing a contribution worth of MAD 10 million to the earthquake fund; in addition to one month of salary offered by all members; Mrs. Mansouri has hailed the solidarity spirit shown by all Moroccans and has stressed that the communal council is entirely mobilized along with authorities, hand in hand, to bring support to the earthquake-stricken people and get out of that crisis thanks to the royal emergency program.
President of the Marrakech communal council has reaffirmed that the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Housing will do their best to implement the royal program in the best possible way.
