Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, President of the Government and President of RNI party presided last Thursday, September 2, 2023, over a meeting with leaders of the government majority parties, namely Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, Secretary General of PAM and Mr. Nizar Barak Secretary General of the Istiqlal party, focusing on the latest developments of our country social, economic and political current situation.
After a lengthy debate, the government majority presidency meeting has reached the following points:
- The government majority presidency has highly praised His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s wisdom and insight in managing efficiently and immediately the impacts of the earthquake that has struck our country, and also His Majesty’s vision to launch a huge program to respond to the earthquake remnants by supporting damaged families, reconstructing their houses, rehabilitating damaged infrastructures, breaking their isolation and reinforcing economic and social developments in targeted areas.
- The government majority presidency has expressed its gratitude towards the broad mobilization of all ministerial sectors and facilities to integrate with a strong determination the implementation of this emergency program with spontaneity, complementarity, efficiency, rapidity and with good governance to carry out the program parameters to reinstall and accommodate families and citizens which have suffered from this natural catastrophe and launch a local development program at both the social and economic levels.
- The government majority presidency has highly appreciated broad national mobilization campaign and national cohesion behind His Majesty the king as it was expressed by all Moroccans from inside and outside the country, and also the spirit of solidarity, cooperation sacrifice and sympathy which has characterized Moroccan citizens’ response with the earthquake victims; the fact which has demonstrated that those values are well-rooted among the Moroccan people culture and considered as a real capital owned by such a great national and state; the government majority presidency has also praised the efforts deployed by the Moroccan civil society components and NGOs to alleviate the earthquake-stricken citizens
- The government majority presidency has highly expressed its gratitude towards the great job done by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the Gendarmerie Royale, National Security, Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection and public territorial authorities (Ministry of Interior), medical staff, technical assistants and different technical services for their efficient interventions to secure the earthquake-stricken victims, offering first aid to the injured and supporting local communities in those hard circumstances. It has also praised all the rescue teams from friendly and brotherly countries which have offered their support and assistance.
- The government majority presidency has also expressed its gratitude to many countries, world and regional organizations, and international observers for their appreciation towards the higher competency demonstrated by our country in dealing with the earthquake remnants, and considered that some discordant voices expressed by certain sides which have attempted to use the earthquake catastrophe for political purposes will only enhance our country’s internal front, unity and solidarity.
- The government majority presidency has praised the harmony, solidarity and cooperation that have characterized the action of the government majority components, and has reaffirmed its pursuing and strengthening of coordination and consultation and common action on the occasion of the political entry; and also its immediate and efficient response to deal with various issues that concern the government action, to speed up the implementation of royal instructions and continue the application of the government program.
- After debating broad orientations of the 2024 financial budget, the government majority presidency has praised the different contents included in that project bill through which the government will continue implementation of its different social programs, especially in what concerns the royal major project of the “social state” in the health, education, employment, and housing sectors in addition to efforts related to create economic recovery, facing climate challenges and managing water stress problem.
- The government majority presidency has highly praised the decision made by the World Bank and the IMF to maintain the holding of their annual meetings in Marrakech on their scheduled time; the fact which reflects the amount of big trust and consideration our country enjoys under His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s wised leadership, among the world community and this represents a recognition for our country’s capability to meet all challenges even in hard times.
- Leaders of the majority have agreed on overcoming some political practices, which are part of the political action nature, to intervene directly to deal with all that could disrupt the majority harmony and its unified rank; while advocating for deploying biggest efforts to push forward coordination and cooperation well-established between the government and its majority inside the two houses of parliament.
