Lors de son allocution, à l’occasion du dialogue interactif au titre du 4ème cycle du mécanisme de l’Examen périodique universel (EPU), qui s’est déroulé au Palais des Nations unies, le ministre de la justice M. Ouahbi a relevé que la période couverte par le rapport national (2017-2022) a vu le renforcement de l’implication du Royaume aux mécanismes onusiens des droits de l’homme, avec la poursuite de son adhésion aux protocoles facultatifs aux conventions fondamentales des droits de l’homme.
M. Ouahbi, a expliqué qu’après avoir suspendu l’application de la peine de mort dans la pratique pendant près de trois décennies, la législation nationale a été renforcée par la réduction des crimes passibles de la peine capitale par le biais de la loi sur la justice militaire, qui en a changé le nombre à 5 au lieu de 16.
Au sujet des droits de la femme, M. Ouahbi a indiqué qu’il y aura d’importants changements conformémment aux instructions de Sa Magesté le Roi Mohammed VI, précisant que le code de la famille sera revu et réajusté, en prenant compte du rôle important que joue la femme au sein de la société marocaine.

Le ministre a ajouté que la question de droit de l’homme dans notre pays est une question fondamentale, et en tant que ministre de la justice, il est très conscient que l’avenir du Royaume du Maroc est lié étroitement au droit de l’homme et que le meilleur choix réside dans le fait de privilégier le droit de l’homme, en soulignant que le peuple marocain mérite que sa dignité soit bien préservée, en vivant sous l’ombre d’un régime politique qui respecte le droit de l’homme. En indiquant que le choix de la démocratie est une priorité dans notre pays.
« Depuis 1975 et la récupération de nos Provinces du sud, nous y avons investi 200 milliards de dollars. Ce n’est pas de l’aumône, mais cela découle de notre responsabilité envers notre peuple », a affirmé M. Ouahbi devant le CDH, évoquant ensuite le triste sort réservé aux populations séquestrées de Tindouf.
«Je regrette qu’une partie de notre peuple et des ressortissants subsahariens soient pris en otages dans un autre pays (Algérie) et exploités pour créer une crise politique et une crise internationale qui menacent la paix et la sécurité dans le monde», a poursuivi le ministre.
«Celui qui brandit le slogan des droits de l’Homme doit d’abord en appliquer les principes pour son peuple, quand ce dernier manifeste, et observer des procès équitables, et tenir compte du fait de ses importants revenus pétroliers, alors que son peuple, affamé, est obligé de faire la queue dans la rue et devant les commerces pour un litre d’huile», a lancé M. Ouahbi.
Le ministre a fait allusion aux souffrances quotidiennes du peuple algérien.
