As part of the Berkane Municipal Council’s participation in the Regional Program for Migration Stakeholder Initiatives (PRIM), funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and implemented by Expertise France, and as part of the implementation of the #ALZDIHAR project overseen by the Ibn Battuta Foundation in Spain, the Berkane Municipal Council welcomed a delegation of representatives from six municipalities in the Catalonia region on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

The delegation was received by the president of the municipal council, Mohamed Ibrahimi, his deputies, and department heads, who welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences and expertise.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given on the community’s most significant achievements, including:
– Digital Transformation: Digitizing Administration to Improve Services.
– Urban renewal: Development of infrastructure and public spaces.
A video was also shown documenting the changes the group has undergone, and its work plan for 2023–2028 was presented, which focuses on sustainable development and social rehabilitation.
The delegation then visited the Migrant Reception and Orientation Unit, where they were briefed on its role and the services it provides to migrants. They also visited the Family Rehabilitation Center, where they were welcomed by the beneficiaries, who showcased their products and explained the importance of the center and the services it offers.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation visited an agricultural cooperative, where they learned about the cooperative’s efforts to boost local production and support agricultural development. They were given an overview of the cooperative’s production processes, its signature products, and the role it plays in improving the economic and social conditions of its members.
