On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, the U.S. Department of State highlighted that the leadership provided by His Majesty King Mohammed VI has enabled Morocco to become a “global leader” in renewable energy investment and to achieve its goals under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The Office of Near Eastern Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet: “Under the visionary leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco has become a global leader in renewable energy investment and in achieving its goals under the Paris Agreement.”
Earlier yesterday, U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry praised His Majesty’s commitment to combating climate change.
Kerry explained in a tweet: “I personally witnessed His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s commitment [to combating climate change] when Morocco hosted the COP22 conference” in Marrakesh in 2016, noting that Morocco is an important partner in international efforts to combat climate change.
Kerry added, “We look forward to deepening our partnership” as we head to Glasgow, which will host the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 26) from November 1 to 12, 2021.
