On Sunday, July 17, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced six deaths and 787 new cases of COVID-19, while 1,472 people had recovered over the past 24 hours.
In its daily COVID-19 update, the ministry reported that the deaths occurred in the following regions: Marrakech-Safi (2), Souss-Massa (2), Rabat- Salé-Kenitra (1), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1), bringing the total number of deaths to 16,184.
The same source noted that 6,597,379 people have received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while the number of people who have received the second dose has risen to 23,352,719, compared to 24,865,046 who have received the first dose.
In addition, 12,083 people received the fourth booster dose recommended by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection for the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.
The ministry added that the latest tally of virus cases has brought the total number of confirmed cases in the kingdom to 1,251,297 since the first case was announced on March 2, 2020, while the total number of full recoveries stands at 1,220,252, representing a recovery rate of 97.5 percent. The cases recorded in the last 24 hours are distributed across the following regions: Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (217), Casablanca-Settat (159), Marrakech-Safi (86), Souss-Massa (79), Fès-Meknès (73), the East (63), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (54), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (19), Draa-Tafilalet (18), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (9), Guelmim-Oued Noun (6), and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (4).
The total number of active cases reached 14,861, while 10 critical cases were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of such cases to 138. The occupancy rate for COVID-19 intensive care beds stood at 2.6 percent.
