On Friday, November 10, 2023, in Gibraltar, the Tangier Community and the Municipality of Gibraltar signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at laying the groundwork for bilateral cooperation between the two parties.
The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Tangier Municipal Council by its president, Mr. Mounir Limouri, in the presence of Sharifa Lalla Malika Al-Alawi, and on behalf of the Municipality of Gibraltar by its mayor, Ms. Carmen Gómez.

Incidentally, Mr. Lemori emphasized that Tangier and Gibraltar share deep-rooted historical ties and strong bonds, noting that a large number of Moroccans of Tangier descent live in this region.
The president of the municipal council highlighted the many similarities between the city of Tangier and the region of Gibraltar, particularly their shared location on the Mediterranean coast, which shapes the character of their residents and fosters a sense of commonality that makes mutual understanding and closer ties both easy and highly feasible.
Limori reiterated his call to visit Tangier, “which has become a prime destination for investors, with robust infrastructure and logistical, human, and tax advantages that make it a magnet for dozens of companies on an ongoing basis.”
For her part, Gomez expressed her admiration for the development Tangier has undergone, particularly in recent years, noting that this enhances the city’s potential and appeal for attracting investment.

The Mayor of Gibraltar emphasized her interest in developing a model of cooperation with the city of Tangier across various fields, calling on businesspeople and investors to explore this city, which has become an attractive and safe destination for investors from around the world.
The event itself provided an opportunity for Lemori to meet with two organizations representing the Moroccan community in Gibraltar: the Association of Moroccan Workers in Gibraltar and the Association of the Moroccan Community in Gibraltar.
