His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, affirmed today, Monday, November 6, that Morocco is committed to continuing its path of development and progress in all regions, including the Moroccan Sahara.
In an address to the nation marking the 48th anniversary of the Green March, His Majesty the King emphasized that the Green March made it possible to complete the country’s territorial unity. He added that “in keeping with our eternal pledge, we continue the march of development, modernization, and construction to honor Moroccan citizens and make the best use of the resources our country abounds in, particularly in the Moroccan Sahara.”
His Majesty noted that the recovery of the southern provinces has strengthened the Kingdom’s Atlantic dimension, while national diplomatic mobilization has reinforced Morocco’s position, increased international support for its territorial integrity, and countered the maneuvers of both overt and covert adversaries.
His Majesty the King explained that while the Mediterranean coast serves as a link between Morocco and Europe, the Atlantic coast is Morocco’s gateway to Africa and a window to the Americas, adding, “This is why we are committed to developing the coastal region nationwide, including the Atlantic coast of the Moroccan Sahara.”
In this context, His Majesty the King emphasized the need to work toward establishing a strong and competitive national merchant fleet that will contribute to the region’s economic development.
His Majesty also emphasized that “our goal is to transform the Atlantic coast into a space for human interaction, economic integration, and continental and international influence,” stressing the commitment to “completing the major projects underway in our southern regions, providing services and infrastructure linked to human and economic development, facilitating connectivity among the various components of the Atlantic coast, and establishing transportation networks and logistics hubs; including the development of a strong and competitive national commercial maritime fleet.”
