On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, a training workshop titled “Public Facilities Program” was held at the Berkane Municipal Council headquarters, organized by the General Directorate of Local Authorities in partnership with the Tarika Association for Sustainable Development.
As part of its efforts to assist and support local authorities in exercising their authority to create and manage public facilities and infrastructure, the General Directorate of Local Authorities at the Ministry of the Interior is working to standardize the specifications for such infrastructure and modernize management practices in order to improve the services provided to citizens.
In this context, the Public Utilities Program aims to:
– Compile a list of qualitative and quantitative data on various local public facilities, with a platform for regular updates.
– An inventory of the current status and data regarding resources (maps, data, tables, etc.) to gain a clearer understanding of those resources and develop a well-structured strategic plan for their management and administration.
– Establish a standardized framework for public utilities aimed at harmonizing standards and practices at the national level.
– Providing in-person training for staff from partner organizations to ensure the effective and consistent use of data and tools.
This training workshop was aimed at department heads and their technical assistants in the region’s municipalities, the department head at the Berkane Regional Council, and the department head of the Zekzel municipality.
