Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Zineb Presides Over the General Assembly of the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children

Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Zineb, President of the Moroccan League for Child Protection, chaired the League’s ordinary general assembly meeting via video conference on Tuesday in Rabat. During the meeting, the 2019 annual and financial reports, the updated procedures manual, the League’s 2020–2021 work program, and the auditor’s report.

A statement released Wednesday by the Moroccan League for the Protection of Children noted that Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Zineb praised, on this occasion, the efforts made by members of the League’s central, regional, and local offices, as well as their ongoing commitment to improving care conditions for children deprived of a family environment, and to promote early childhood and preschool education for young children.

Her Highness also thanked all partners and donors for their ongoing support of the League’s various projects and activities, as well as the auditor and all stakeholders in the social sector for their valuable contributions.

Following the general discussion, the statement adds, the League’s members unanimously approved the annual and financial reports, the financial statements for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2019, and the related summary statements.

The League’s recommendations and proposals regarding the revision of the guardianship law, the streamlining of procedures, and the improvement of the quality of services provided to children without family support and to residents of reception and shelter centers located throughout the Kingdom were subsequently approved.

Following the regular general assembly, Her Highness Princess Lalla Zineb presided over the extraordinary general assembly, during which a single item on the agenda was considered: an amendment to the League’s bylaws.

following the League members’ unanimous approval of this single resolution, the text of a telegram of loyalty and devotion, sent by the participants to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist and support him, was read aloud.

The statement noted that 2019 was marked by the establishment of new centers for the reception and care of children deprived of family care in Smara, Agadir, Beni Mellal, Fez, Rabat, Dakhla, and Boujdour, as well as the organization of workshops and continuing education courses for League staff, strengthening cooperation and partnership with various stakeholders and partners involved in child protection, and supporting initiatives to exchange experiences and expertise regarding the guardianship of mothers in emergency situations, and accompanying them to encourage them not to abandon their children and to keep them, in line with the royal directives calling for the advancement of children’s conditions and the protection of their fundamental rights.
