Tangier: The Regional Committee for Continuing Education Holds a Meeting to Monitor the Development of the Strategic Plan

The Regional Committee for Lifelong Learning held a meeting dedicated to preparing the third phase of the strategic plan for lifelong learning for elected officials in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

This meeting, chaired by Ms. Fatima El Hassani, President of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council, and attended by the Vice President in charge of vocational training, continuing education, and employment promotion, Mr. Nabil El Shalih, is part of the four-phase process to develop the strategic framework for continuing education, which is being prepared by a specialized research firm under the supervision of the General Directorate of Local Communities and with funding from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation.

In a speech delivered on the occasion, Al-Hassani highlighted the significant progress made toward the completion of this important project, despite the circumstances and constraints that have characterized the current administrative term, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was a key factor in the delay of the study related to this project.

Al-Hassani noted that the development of the master plan for lifelong learning is part of the foundational phase of the advanced regionalization concept. She emphasized the need to expedite the completion of all phases of this project, which is intended to serve as a reference document for future elected councils.

The president of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Council emphasized the importance of ongoing training for elected officials and representatives, noting that this contributes to the proper implementation of the provisions of advanced regionalization. She highlighted that training falls within the council’s own jurisdiction.

The meeting featured presentations on the project by Mr. Rachid Ben Abdelrahman of the General Directorate of Local Communities at the Ministry of the Interior, as well as by representatives from the consulting firm commissioned to conduct the study.

It should be noted that the strategic framework for continuing education is a regional document that, based on an initial assessment of the qualifications of local council members, the administrative tasks assigned to them, and the powers granted to local authorities, (it defines) the training themes and priorities, the duration of the program, and the budget allocated to it.
