In today's session, PAM lawmakers put the Othmani government on the spot in four key sectors

During the oral question period scheduled for this afternoon, Monday, December 2, 2019, the Authenticity and Modernity Group in the House of Representatives intends to highlight the problems faced by Moroccan citizens in the areas of health, education, employment, justice, and relations with Parliament.

In the health sector, Member of Parliament Abdelkader Boudraa will pose an oral question to the Minister of Health regarding the results of his policies in this sector, which has revealed deep-seated and chronic problems that hinder reform—both in terms of the quality of medical services provided in hospitals and in terms of medical equipment.

In the same sector, Member of Parliament Abdellatif Wahbi will pose an oral question to the minister regarding the measures taken to address the issue of mismanagement of the drug stockpile, which has become a burden on the state budget without benefiting patients. For her part, MP Touria Faraj will seek to clarify the status of state-certified nurses with two years of training, after this group has faced exclusion and marginalization for decades.

In the sector of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Member of Parliament Omar Khafif will focus on the issue of overcrowding in public schools, as well as the shortage of teachers and classrooms. He will ask the minister what measures have been taken to ensure equitable, high-quality education for all Moroccan children. For her part, MP Mariam Ouhsata will pose an oral question to the same minister regarding his ministry’s program to renovate and refurbish dilapidated educational institutions at risk of collapse.

The Minister of Labor and Professional Integration will, in turn, face an oral question from Member of Parliament Abdelrahim Waamer regarding the government’s policy on combating the marginalization of rural and mountainous communities in the area of employment, and what he intends to do to provide job opportunities for the people of these regions of our country.

MP Tawfiq Al-Maymouni will also pose an oral question to the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Civil Society regarding the reasons for the failure to comply with the provisions of Decree No. 2.17.585, issued on 4 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1439 (November 23, 2017), which requires that draft laws submitted to Parliament be accompanied by an impact assessment.

Finally, MP Hayat Al-Mashfou will question the Minister of Justice regarding the government’s policy on the guardianship system for neglected children, particularly with regard to the involvement of civil society actors and stakeholders who seek to improve the legal mechanisms and safeguards included in Moroccan legislation on the protection and care of neglected children.
