“COVID-19”: 112 new cases reported; more than 3,568,000 people have received their first vaccine dose (Ministry of Health)

The Ministry of Health announced today, Monday, that 112 new cases of COVID-19, 299 recoveries, and 14 deaths had been recorded over the past 24 hours, while the number of people who have received the vaccine reached 3,568,670 (first dose).

In its daily bulletin on COVID-19 epidemiological monitoring results, the ministry stated that the number of people who received their second vaccine dose reached 232,980, noting that the new figures brought the total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 483,766 since the first case was announced on March 2, and the total number of full recoveries to 469,345, with a recovery rate of 97 percent, while the number of deaths rose to 8,637, with a fatality rate of 1.8 percent.

The cases recorded over the past 24 hours are distributed across the Kingdom’s regions as follows: Casablanca-Settat (50), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (20), the East (10), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (9), Marrakech-Safi (7), and Fès-Meknès (5), Souss-Massa (5), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (2), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (2), Draa-Tafilalet (1), and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1).

In terms of deaths, five cases were reported in the Casablanca-Settat region, two cases each in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Oriental, and Beni Mellal-Khenifra regions, as well as in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, and one case in the Marrakech-Safi region.

According to the bulletin, Morocco’s cumulative incidence rate has reached 1,330.8 cases per 100,000 people, with an incidence rate of 0.3 per 100,000 people over the past 24 hours, while the total number of active cases currently receiving treatment stands at 5,784.

The number of new serious or critical cases admitted to intensive care units over the past 24 hours reached 16, bringing the total number of such cases to 394, of which 28 are on invasive mechanical ventilation and 225 are on non-invasive mechanical ventilation.

The occupancy rate for COVID-19 intensive care beds stood at 12.5 percent.
