The Secretary-General of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, Mr. Abdellatif Wahbi, emphasized that there are three key approaches to implementing the party’s modernist social agenda and contributing to improving the status of Moroccan women: “genuine political will, clarity in confronting outdated mindsets, and the courage to reform legislation and adopt effective measures and procedures.”
In a speech delivered on his behalf by his first deputy, Mr. Samir Kodar, during the opening of the National Conference of the Organization of Women of Authenticity and Modernity under the slogan: “Comprehensive Empowerment of Women: The Foundation of Development and Equality,” on Friday, May 19, 2023, in Bouznika, (emphasized) that these initiatives are what make the party, as part of the government, highly eager to implement its modernist social project—which has been agreed upon within the government program—and more convinced than ever that “the Morocco of dignity we aspire to will only be achieved through the empowerment and equality of Moroccan women.”

In this context, the Secretary-General explained that the government’s modern, democratic reform agenda had been clearly articulated from day one, both within and outside the government, emphasizing that reform efforts regarding women’s rights in all their dimensions can only be achieved through dialogue and partnership, full respect for the jurisdiction of constitutional institutions, and complete adherence to the Kingdom’s various constitutional principles, thereby strengthening our stance against outdated mindsets and the political exploitation of religion in matters concerning women.
The Secretary-General noted that efforts will be made to implement reform projects with boldness and courage, in a manner that preserves Morocco’s leadership and distinction in the region; for we cannot build a modern state without true equality for women, which is a national duty that in no way conflicts with our noble religion.
