Ibrahim Mujahid, President of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra Regional Council, revealed that the meeting he held on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the council’s headquarters with the President of the Central-Northern Regional Council of Burkina Faso was part of efforts to strengthen parallel diplomacy and enhance ties of cooperation with African regions.
Mujahid went on to say that he had used the meeting with his Burkinabe counterpart to discuss ways to open channels for economic cooperation and to help strengthen the capacities of African local governments, in line with the outcomes of the Africity Summit, which was held in Marrakesh last month.
The president of the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region also noted that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a range of other matters and issues of concern to both his region and the North-Central Region of Burkina Faso, and to explore avenues for support, cooperation, and coordination between the two regions in various fields.
In addition, Mujahid praised the engagement of the president of the North Central Region of Burkina Faso, noting that it was conducted responsibly and in accordance with the resources available to both parties, particularly given that the Beni Mellal-Khenifra Region is committed to adopting a collaborative approach with its African counterparts.
