On Monday, May 6, 2024, shortly after the conclusion of the regular May session, the Seminar and Training Hall of the Makrisat Community hosted the launch of the project “Makrisat: An Open Community, an Active Civil Society.”
This week, Noureddine Benali, President of the Municipal Council of Makrisat (Ouzane Province), launched the project “Makrisat: An Open Community, an Active Civil Society.”
The event was attended by members of the municipal council, the president of the Ajial Association for Development, the Commission for Equality, Equal Opportunities, and Gender Mainstreaming, and representatives of local civil society organizations.
On this occasion, attendees listened to remarks from the partners and were given a brief presentation on the project (its context and pillars, its objectives, and the planned activities).
The project aims to contribute to strengthening the principles of transparency, participation, and openness in local governance within the Makrisat municipality by enhancing dialogue and communication between the municipal council and residents, as well as the capacities of local actors in areas related to the implementation of participatory democratic mechanisms. In addition, it seeks to enhance transparency within the community by facilitating residents’ access to information related to local governance.
The project—for the record—is being implemented by the Ajyal Association for Development in Makrisat in partnership with the Makrisat Community, the Commission for Equality, Equal Opportunities, and Gender Mainstreaming, and local civil society organizations.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the various local partners to implement the project's activities.
