Sahara : Ouahbi says « more legitimacy was attributed to Morocco’s autonomy initiative considered as the realistic and most convenient political solution »
Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, Minister of Justice, participated on Tuesday November 9, 2021, in the works of the third session of a parallel diplomatic conference, about “legal and political impacts of the world recognition of the Moroccan nature of the Moroccan Sahara”.
Minister Ouahbi has expressed,
In the same context, Minister Ouahbi added “this scientific meeting is characterized by its timing in the aftermath of a royal qualitative speech, yet unprecedented, through which His Majesty has conveyed several internal national and detailed messages, in their essence, the Moroccan Sahara (is witnessing a broad development renaissance, including infrastructures and socio economic projects.. and that the democratically- elected council bodies in the Sahara regions and provinces are the genuine legitimate representatives of the region populations, and that we are looking forward to make of this region the locomotive for implementing the process of an advanced regionalization, which will open larger development horizons and a true political participation) as confirmed His Majesty in his speech addressed to the nation last Saturday.
Concerning partners, foes and the remaining of the international community, Minister Ouahbi has recalled strategic external messages included in the royal speech and which stated “Morocco does not negotiate about its Sahara and the Moroccan nature of the Sahara has never been and will never be on the table of negotiations, but we will negotiate for a peaceful solution to that artificial regional conflict.. and the assessment would be left for countries and communities which have agreements and partnerships bounds with Morocco, and which consider our Southern provinces as an integral part of the national territory. We also say to those with ambivalent and double positions that Morocco will not make any economic or commercial step that does not include the Moroccan Sahara”, asserted His Majesty- more obvious with firm positions, as Morocco’s new decisions regarding the Moroccan Sahara”.
Minister Ouahbi confirmed that this issue is His Majesty’ Mohammed VI main concern, who considers that “it is a crucial cause” , and he personally supervises over its management internally and externally, yet His Majesty has considered the Sahara issue in his speech on November 6, 2018 as one of the biggest issues to the country that should be dealt with (efficient approach, based on serious action and with an internal responsibility spirit, on clearness and ambition as are the principles of our foreign policy), end of His Majesty’s quotes.
Minister Ouahbi said in the same presentation “our national cause goes through a delicate period at both internal and international levels; internally, we are proud of the bigdevelopment projects being achieved by our country inside various Southern provinces.. With full pride and joy about the high national unity spirit as continuously expressed by our citizens from Southern provinces; as it was demonstrated through their intensely active participation and their big voluntary integration in the latest electoral process, is a clear-cut proof for their strong adhering to their original Moroccan nationalism and to our country territorial integrity”.
At the external level, Minister Ouahbi added “supreme royal orientations to Moroccan diplomacy have borne important gains, fruits and true international victories during the last few years, the fact which has brought high the attribution of power; legitimacy and the fairness of our national cause, yet those royal orientations have enhanced Moroccan position in different international fora, within efforts that have been crowned by the U.S. recognition of the Moroccan nature of the Sahara, the fact which has constituted a strong political and diplomatic push to our territorial integrity and to our national position, and which has actually strengthened our country sovereignty over its southern provinces and over the entire national territory”.
In the same context, Minister Ouahbi has reminded of the process of the international recognition of the Moroccan nature of the Sahara, which has been enhanced by the establishment of many foreign countries of their consulates and diplomatic missions in Laayoune and Dakhla, and even beyond that by setting up bigger economic and strategic partnerships, in over the entre Southern provinces of the Kingdom without exception, as an integral part of the Moroccan territory”.
The Minister has pointed out to the big changes which we have started to be noticed in the latest U.N. resolutions, which tend to disintegrate the flimsy thesis of Morocco’s foes, conversely more legitimacy was attributed to the autonomy initiative considered as the realistic and most convenient political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, far from outstripped thesis of our foes, who have received strong blows, among the best examples was many countries, 163 states, have withdrawn their own recognition of the fictitious entity meaning that 85% of countries members of the U.N. do not recognize at all the fictitious republic.
