Minister Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid: Incorporating Mohammed VI Academy for Arabic language into the National Council for Languages will enhance deployed efforts to support and teaching Arabic language

On the occasion of the International day for Arabic language, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, has confirmed that due to organizational law provisions number 04-16 related to the National Council for Moroccan Languages and Culture, Mohammed VI academy for Arabic language was incorporated into that council.

The Minister made clear in his response to MP’s questions, during the oral questions session held last Monday, December 27, 2021, that Mohammed VI academy for Arabic language will be reorganized according to chapter 11 of the above-mentioned organizational law, pointing out that by referring to chapter 12 of that same law, we find out that academies carry many mission including “the preparation of the state’s strategic directives in promoting Arabic language, guaranteeing its protection and developing its practice as the state’s official language along with the Berber language; and to follow up those directives in coordination with specialized public authorities and officials, after studying and adopting them according to that organizational law and to other competencies of that above-mentioned academy”, said Minister Bensaid.

In the same context, the Minister added “because that institution has become affiliated to the National Council for Moroccan languages and Culture, not installed yet, so after installment, Mohammed VI academy for Arabic language will reactivate its provisions, the fact which will reinforce efforts being deployed right now to support the teaching of Arabic language”.
