The PAM Politburo held last Tuesday, January 25, 2022 an attendance meeting chaired by the Secretary General Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi, dedicated to debating recent developments in the national political scene, and other organizational and political issues related to the party.
At the beginning of the meeting, members of the Politburo have discussed in detail the political intervention presented by the party Secretary General, on top of it the cause of our country’s territorial integrity, where the Politburo has welcomed the trip made by the UNSG personal envoy to the area during the last week, reiterating that Morocco has always remained on initiative track with good intension to solve this artificial conflict, to serve the interests of the area’s peoples and its stability.
In this context, the Politburo has reiterated its firm commitment of the Moroccan Kingdom which is “a political solution based on the initiative of an autonomy in the context of round-tables process with the attendance of the four parties”, calling on some neighboring countries to be rational and wise, with enough courage, taking into consideration brotherhood bounds, and common historical and spiritual links among the area’s peoples, to serve the area’s countries’ integrity, safeguarding their territories and strengthening their peoples’ development and progress.
Concerning other national issues, the Politburo has discussed latest developments of the Corona virus, recording with concern the soaring of cases in our country, praising at the same time positive interaction and strong mobilization undertaken by various institutions and officials in our country to confront repercussions of the new variant. In this context, the Politburo has urged all citizens, women and men, for the necessity of taking their jabs to attain collective immunity, especially that our country has reached a higher percentage of vaccination and has come closer to the ratio recommended internationally to achieve collective immunity; the fact which would permit some alleviation from the costly economic and social impacts.
Furthermore, the Politburo has called for the necessity to carry out a feasibility study of continuing to stop all international flights, and work to open airports and borders to humanitarian, commercial and tourism flights, particularly that our country has accumulated an important experience in confronting the pandemic development; this would allow our country to start an tourism economic take-off (after huge losses tourism sector has suffered from as a result of the shutdown decision) and will serve humanitarian interest of our citizens who have been stranded abroad. The Politburo has also called on the government to deploy its efforts to support all professional sectors related to tourism economy, due to the strangling crisis suffered by hundreds of families working in this sector.
The Politburo has highly appreciated the government’s continuous efforts to render official Berber/Tamazigh language in many sectors, out of consideration that it is an irreversible royal choice, welcoming at the same time the head of the government chairing the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Justice and IRCAM to integrate Berber/Tamazigh language into the judiciary realm, and stressing the importance to speed up the implementation of this project in the remaining sectors, in full application of the constitution and also in fair justice to large factions of the Moroccan people.
Regarding social issues and after discussing deterioration of conditions in rural areas and their problems as a result of delay of rain and the impact on falling prices of agriculture products, of vegetables, fruits and livestock; while at the same time, it has been noticed that prices have increased of some raw materials, fertilizers and cattle feed. The Politburo, while it has expressed its high gratitude to the government program to subsidy support to rural areas, it has also called on the government to allocate short-term emergency programs to alleviate the crisis and suffering of rural populations, either in providing potable or irrigation water, or to offer necessary assistance to farmers and agriculture in general.
Concerning the legislative field, the Politburo has discussed at length the sterile political sparring raised by some political movements in an attempt to modify the government intensions and goals about withdrawing several pending bills inside the two Houses of Parliament, praising at the same time the government’s courage to take its decision to withdraw those pending bills, urging the government to proceed with amending those bills again according to a collective new vision of the government majority poles in full commitments and promises the government majority parties have made to electors.
Regarding the government majority issue, members of the Politburo have praised the new communiqué issued following the meeting of the authority of the House of Counselors presidency as one of the mechanisms stipulated by the government majority charter.. praising at the same time the amount of coordination among the majority components at the House of Counselors.
Concerning the party’s statute and after discussing the continuous dynamism and important organizational status of many regional and local party leaders are experiencing across the Kingdom and despite the constraints of the pandemic; and after listening to reports presented by the six organizational poles being created by the latest meeting of the Politburo, (the pole of media and communication, the pole of administration and digitalization, the pole of following up parliamentary action and elected body, the pole of external relations, and the pole of budget management), the Politburo has decided unanimously to create a large preparatory committee made up of former and current women parliamentarians and the party’s women ministers to be open to the party’s elected members and all members in general, in order to focus on rebuilding a new vision of the PAM women organization capable of overcoming former dysfunctions and to be at the level of the party’s both leadership and basic factions in due conformity with the strong political status of the party.
