The PAM Secretary General’s statement during the session of a communication meeting between the Party Politburo and Presidents of communes Marrakech, March 18, 2022
I am honored to participate with you in this important meeting which has come in special circumstances, if not exceptional at many levels, politically, economically and socially, since our country is facing a number of great challenges internally and externally on top of them the repercussions of international markets fluctuations due to the Russian – Ukrainian war, which has shaken world markets stability and so has affected the economies of all the world’s countries including ours; all this has come to weigh on the corona impacts, as this pandemic has actually constituted another opportunity to confirm the depth and strength of our country’s state under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s strategic preemptive policy and the contributions of all officials, institutions, elected bodies, civil society NGOs and the entire Moroccan people, have been capable of stranding up against the pandemic with outstanding successes which have been praised by Moroccan foes before its friends.
In the same context of challenges, our country faces also the delay of rains and unprecedented lack of rains amount, the fact which has reflected negatively on the agriculture sector and has affected economic and social conditions of rural areas populations; which has required an immediate intervention by the government through a number of responsible measures that have contributed with no doubt to alleviate those impacts.
Those challenges will not be a pretext for us to clear out our commitment inside this government; we will remain committed to assume fully our responsibility inside this harmonious government and continue to face collectively those challenges until we achieve the big successes for our nation and citizens and the best example is or success to maintain prices stability despite political, climate and pandemic fluctuations internally and externally.
That’s why let’s assure some suspicious sides that this government with its strong national and political components will continue the achievements of strategic major projects and implement the contents of the government program. The current government is a social government more than any time before. This government is focusing more on geo-strategic challenges facing our country and it is eager to preserve the legacy and image of our country as a leading model for democracy, development and rights in both Africa and the Arab area.
We have met today after an electoral battle led by our party with great honor and which has enabled us to take a leading position in the political scene and inside the current government; the respectful position the Moroccan voter has granted our party during the latest elections has enabled us to preside hundreds of territorial communes, areas councils and very important positions inside the government.
In terms of figures, our party won 6361 seats among territorial communes out of 6662 during 2021 September elections and has maintained the second political rank at the House of Representatives with 87 parliamentarian seats out of 102; we have also achieved the presidency of 4 regional councils out of 5. The participation of our party in the current government is with 7 important ministerial portfolios.
The big responsibility on our shoulders is actually to contribute to our nation’s development through the construction of strong organizational layouts of our party with strong democratic aspect and to prepare for the 2026 elections starting from now.
Presidents of communes and their human components are the best expression to the party’s voice and image; we like to cooperate with you out of our belief that through you, we serve Moroccan citizens and the nation. We believe that our party has no future without your strong position; you are the best mediator between your own party and citizens to meet challenges and achieve the goals for development and for a strong and responsible integration in the social modern and reformist project led with determination and willingness by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
