Morocco and Yemen step up cooperation in the judiciary field

A protocol agreement to stimulate exchange of experiences in the judiciary field between Morocco and Yemen was signed in Rabat on Monday, October 24, 2022 between Minister of Justice Mr. Abdellatif Ouahbi and his Yemeni counterpart, Minister Badr Addo Ahmed Alaredh.

The protocol cooperation agreement in judiciary and jurist field between both ministries is aimed at enhancing exchange of expertise in terms of modernization of judiciary administration, qualifying human resources in relation with justice management and use of modern information technology in this sector.

On this occasion, Minister Ouahbi has underlined that the protocol agreement will help promoting bilateral cooperation through an establishment of a joint action program to exchange experiences in the judiciary, adding that the Yemeni Minister’s visit to Morocco will broaden cooperation scope in the future.

Minister Ouahbi has confirmed the availability of his department to support efforts of this brotherly country concerning training and reinforcement of magistrates and jurists’ skills in the judiciary, especially exchange of Moroccan expertise in the fight against human trafficking in harmony with UN resolutions.

The Yemeni Minister, from his side, has indicated that his country relies on the Moroccan Kingdom particularly, on the Higher Institute of Magistrates/ISM, to give a new impetus to the Justice sector in Yemen. In terms of this convention, ISM will receive awarded students from the Yemeni Higher Institute to pursue their PhD studies, he said.

This visit, which was attended by the Ambassador of Yemen in Rabat, has come in the context of the Yemeni government official’s participation in the 38th session of Arab Ministers of Justice council held in Ifrane last October 20, 2022.
